My husband occasionally says really smart things. His latest?
"It's not what you photograph, it's how. You could be stuck in one room for an hour and produce 100 different photos, all different and good. As long as you get creative and find new way to photograph things."And I'd take that a step even further - the more you photograph the same thing, the more creative you get about how you photo it. It lets you start to see things in different ways, and notice things you didn't before.
All this started when I mentioned that I wish I could go somewhere new to take pictures. So instead, after hearing those words, I've started going out every week and taking pictures around the house.
Every time, I come back with something different. Last time I found a mockingbird who has moved into the neighborhood, and a few cats. This time, I realized that the plants I pass every day are all covered in snails (hidden-in-plain-views style). It's an eye-opening experience, and a chance to practice taking pictures (I'm proud of myself for switching almost completely to manual!).
The Challenge!I invite everyone who watches me, or even anyone just passing by, to join me for a photowalk challenge.
Pick a route near your house. Make it 4 or 5 blocks, or around your house, something you can walk around in about 10-15 minutes. Go out about once a week on the same exact route, taking pictures. Your goal would be to take different pictures every time, notice new things, get creative.
The challenge will run from NOW until Christmas Day. (: My personal goal is once a week. But I'd say at least 4 photowalks in that time would be a fair goal for those of you who actually have lives.
The Prizes!A feeling of accomplishment, better handle of your camera, and some great photographs.
No, really. This isn't a contest: there will be no "winners" (everyone wins, really), and no prizes given out.
I WILL, however, feature anyone who does this (and their photowalk photographs) on this journal and ~
BrokenApollo's.
Who will photowalk with me? ~The Littoface
Disclaimer:
Since =Rtalon235 will be putting up images of me in a collaboration of sorts, I felt that I needed to put up this disclaimer.
I am not interested in you. I am married.
Before you make an inappropriate/lewd comment, or ask for my screenname/MSN/AIM/email please answer these questions first:
1. Are you my husband?
2. Do I know you?
3. Are you visiting my gallery for any reason other than to see more pictures of me?
4. Is your name Mike Talon?
If you answered 'no' to any of the previous questions, please don't bother me. If it gets too annoying, I will have to ask =Rtalon235 to stop putting these photos up... and none of us want that, do we? (:
Sorry if I sound like a crab here! I promise I'm not usually like this. I just know from experience why I stopped putting up these kinds of images in the first place. C;
And for everyone else - thank you for visiting! : D
